Requirements for Immigration Status as “Small Business” Investor: The application process has a series of steps which include the application for the provisional permit for residence, which is valid for one (1) year, and renewable for three terms of equal duration. This is followed by the permanent residency permit.

  • Medical Certificate – which must be less than 3 months old on the date of presentation of the application (this should have the sign and seal of the doctor, as well as his Code and Registration Number)
  • AIDS test – which must be less than 6 months old on the date of presentation of the application (this should specify the testing method used and have the sign and seal of the laboratory specialist that did the test, as well as his Code and Registration Number).
  • Police Record from your home country (where the applicant has resided in Panama for less than 5 years).
  • Photocopy of the informational page of your passport
  • Two (2) passport sized photos of the applicant
  • Original Passport, which must be valid for at least 6 months
  • Declaration under Oath, by the Applicant, which indicates the amount invested, the share capital of the Company and the number of shares of the Company, and the amount of shares which have been fully paid and issued. [Prepared by Corporate Business Center & Cie.]

Corporate Documents Required*

  • Certificate of Good Standing issued by the Public Registry, which certifies the name of the company, its officers and directors and the Share Capital of the company (which shall not be less than Us $ 10.000.)*
  • Certificate of the Secretary or Treasurer of the company, which certifies that the applicant is the holder of the shares and that these have been fully paid and issued (this requires a minimum capitalisation of Us $ 10.000)**
  • Certification from the Company’s C.P.A. which certifies that the applicant is the holder of the shares and that these have been fully paid and issued (this requires a minimum capitalisation of Us $10.000)**
  • Original Tax Returns of the Company, with the original payment receipts (in the event or presenting copies, these shall be authenticated by the Ministry of Treasury**)
  • Authenticated (by the Caja de Seguro Social) copy of the Social Security Payroll, which shall have a minimum of three (3) Panamanian employees (this should be for at least the 3 months prior to the application)**
  • Company’s Paz y Salvo from the Caja de Seguro Social**
  • Proof of the investment in the Company, which may be made by presentation any of the following documents:

Sale & Purchase Agreement for real estate or chattels (i.e. other property), duly registered in the Public Registry or with the Municipality
Commercial Invoices, accompanied by a detailed inventory undertaken by the Company’s C.P.A.
Import Tax Receipts
Declaration of Commercial Activity of the company, issued by the Colon Free Trade Zone
Commercial Site Lease Agreements for the Company
Proof of payment of Sales Tax (I.T.B.M.) to the Treasury Ministry
Photocopy of the Deposit Slip of investment in the Company, authenticated by the Bank
Any other document which may prove the investment made in the Company by the invest

  • Police Record from your home country (where the applicant has resided in Panama for less than 2 years).
  • Authenticated copy of the passport or other travel document or Original Passport, which must be valid for at least 6 months
  • Four (4) passport sized photos of the applicant
  • Current certification, duly authenticated, which evidences the following: a) the state of retirement or pensioner by foreign governments, organisations, or private company from which the applicant retired; b) proof that the applicant receives at least Us $ 500 per month (may be in foreign currency, but should be equivalent), plus Us $ 100 per dependant person
  • If retired from a private company, then the applicant must present documents which evidence, duly issued by the appropriate government department, that the company is still active in its country of origin, in addition to documentation which shows the amounts received therefrom
